Counselling and Psychotherapy in Central East Oxford

**I am sorry I don't have any space for new appointments at this time**

I am a skilled, accredited counsellor and psychotherapist (Registered MBACP (Accred), Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling - Person Centred and Psychodynamic Approaches) with over 25 years' experience in counselling, psychotherapy and support with men, women and young people. My way of working is warm and respectful.

I have extensive experience in helping adults and young people with a wide range of issues. This includes in particular:

  • family/relationship difficulties
  • recovery from trauma (e.g. abuse, rape, violence, neglect)
  • depression, sadness and loneliness
  • anxiety
  • loss and bereavement
  • adolescence and parenting
  • adoption and experiences of growing up in care
  • self harm and eating disorders
  • heritage, race, faith and identity
  • sexuality, gender and sexual health
  • low confidence and worthlessness
  • dependency and substance use.

I continue to work in trauma recovery charities, providing counselling and psychotherapy. Prior to this, I have spent the last 26 years working in the NHS, schools, university, prisons, sexual health services, drug and alcohol services, community settings and charities.

I can offer you a safe, private space to speak about any issue, within a service that is highly confidential, respectful and accepting. It takes true courage to ask for help with personal matters. Therapy offers the chance to work alongside your counsellor, to explore and move forward, free from the fear of blame, criticism or shame.

My core counselling training is in person-centred/humanistic and psychodynamic approaches. I am a registered and accredited member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I am also trained in a wide range of other areas of therapy. This includes:

  • Emotional Freedom Technique (or Tapping)
  • Energy Psychotherapy
  • Trauma Recovery
  • Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy

I offer one hour sessions at a cost of £50 per session. This is on a one-to-one basis with adults and young people (aged 15 and over). It is on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period.

A first session is available at £25. This is a chance for us to meet and to find out if I am the right counsellor/psychotherapist for you, and a 'good fit' for what you are looking for. There is no pressure to continue if you do not want to after this appointment.

I have a limited number of reduced-fee places available for those on low incomes.

Based in East Oxford, near central Oxford, my counselling/psychotherapy practice is easy to reach. It is 20 mins walk from central Oxford, and close to Iffley and Cowley Roads. Based in a comfortable, private, modern garden studio, and easily accessible by public transport, foot, bicycle or car from Oxford and Oxfordshire.

Please contact me (using the 'Contact Me' or 'Click here to email' links on this website) for a free telephone consultation and to ask any questions, without any obligation to meet.

Please also see my other pages for further information.

There is also useful information about what therapy is and how it can help on the BACP website: https://www.bacp.co.uk/about-therapy/we-can-help/
