Counselling and Psychotherapy in East Oxford
Are there parts of your life you would like to change? Worries, behaviours, relationships or memories that are holding you back from the kind of life you would like to have?
My name is Xanthe, and I offer confidential, highly skilled, non-judgmental support through counselling and psychotherapy, based in East Oxford, easy to reach from central Oxford.
With over 25 years of experience in counselling and support with adults and young people, I can support you to cope with difficult experiences and challenges, to improve your mental and emotional health, and to have more control over your life.
I can help you to explore a wide range of issues within a safe, private, trusting therapeutic relationship. When we are believed, understood and valued, we reduce our fear, and gain greater freedom and confidence to recover and reach for the life we want.
It takes courage to reach out for help when we are struggling - with low confidence, broken trust, or with difficult thoughts, feelings or memories. It can also be the start to a greater freedom, happiness, peace and wellbeing. It can be a great relief to have a safe and private space in which to explore our situation - with a skilled therapist - without fear of blame, criticism or shame.
I have experience in helping people with a wide range of issues. This includes in particular: low confidence, family/relationship difficulties, coming to terms with, and recovering from trauma (for example, sexual, physical or emotional abuse, rape, violence, neglect or relational trauma), sadness, loneliness, depression and anxiety. I also have extensive experience in working with young people, young adults and parents. Please see my 'About Counselling' page for more detailed information.
If you are interested in finding out more, please feel very welcome to get in touch with any questions, without any obligation to meet.
I offer one hour sessions at a cost of £50-60 per session.
A first session is available at £25. This is a chance for us to meet and to find out if I am the right counsellor for you, and a 'good fit' for what you are looking for. There is no pressure to continue if you do not want to after this appointment.
Please contact me if you are on a low income and this cost would prevent you from accessing the help you need. I have a limited number of reduced-fee places available on a negotiated basis.
Using the email link is the quickest way to contact me. I can then also arrange a convenient time to speak on the phone, if you would like to chat anything through.
I work on a one-to-one basis with young people and adults (aged 16 and over) on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period. My counselling practice is in East Oxford, in a modern, comfortable, garden studio, which is confidential and also within easy reach of central Oxford, bus routes, and a range of parking options.
It is approx 20 mins walk from the City Centre, between the Cowley and Iffley Roads and close to St Clements. There is limited, 2 hour, free on-street parking. (Further details from https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/residents/roads-and-transport/parking/where-park/street-parking). There are also paid car parking options. (Further details from https://en.parkopedia.co.uk/parking/st_marys_rd_oxford_ox4_1) Frequent buses run from central Oxford, bus and rail stations, and Thornhill Park and Ride, to Cowley Road, Iffley Road and St Clements. My counselling practice is just a short walk from here in East Oxford.
